Galaxy S6 Edge: Samsung released its own bending test

Samsung Electronics has provided an estimate for the first quarter of fiscal 2015 and contradicted a report on bent S6 smartphones. It is based on a continued decline in operating profit of 30 percent over the previous year - from 8.49 trillion won (7.17 billion euros) to 5.9 trillion won (5.0 billion euros). Consolidated sales decreased from 53.7 trillion won, up 12 percent to 47 trillion won. The final figures will report in late April.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2014 with an operating profit of only 5.29 trillion won (4.47 billion euros) but an increase is visible, even though it is not possible Samsung to catch its decline from last year. For fiscal year 2014 had reported nearly a third less operating profit - due to the divisions Mobile and IT, with around 40 percent less profit for the year.

The only profitable division of Samsung was the semiconductor business, the profit is increased to 1.89 trillion won to 8.78 trillion won and its sales over the previous year increased by 6 percent to 39.73 trillion won last year. Its main customers were smartphone rival Apple, German Telekom, Ingram Micro, Sprint and Verizon, the relation of Samsung processors and components.

The success of Apple's iPhone models 6 and 6 Plus, the Samsung semiconductor manufacturing has, of course, also contributed significantly to the decline in Samsung's mobile division. Just last month it has with Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge introduced new devices.

These top models are viewing just like Apple's iPhone exposed 6 Plus at the start reproaches, they are easy to bend. The mobile insurer SquareTrade recently showed in a video that the Edge unlike other smartphones is bent at a force of 110 lbf (489 Newton) and his display breaks.

Samsung has now taken a position about this: A force of 110 lbf kick in practice hardly. In the back pocket of pressure lies much closer to 66 lbf (294 Newtons). In addition, internal tests had revealed that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge is not verbögen even at 79 lbf (351 Newtons). "This is so much pressure as you need to break five pencils at the same time."

In addition SquareTrade've only tested the stability of the front, criticized Samsung. Unlike many competitors, the new Samsung flagship models were equally stable backs. Its internal testing confirms that Samsung also with a video.
